The biggest sporting event of the week will be the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix on July 31. With top speeds well north of 320 kilometers per hour, Formula 1 racing is already one of the most exciting sports on the planet, but you can add even more personal excitement to the Hungarian Grand Prix by putting some money on the line. Prior to the 20 drivers doing 70 laps of the 4.381-km Hungaroring in Budapest at 9:00 a.m. EDT on Sunday, there will be a trio of practice sessions that begin Friday and qualifying Saturday.
While the results of qualifying will undoubtedly impact betting odds for Sunday’s race, you can start betting on Sunday’s outcome before practice even begins. You can wager on Formula 1 at any of the leading online or mobile sportsbooks available in legal sports betting states.
One such platform is Caesars Sportsbook, which is the source of the odds found below. Keep in mind that other betting platforms may have more favorable odds on certain drivers, so it can be worth it to shop around for the best lines.
Two favorites tower above the rest in this race, as Max Verstappen has +110 odds and Charles Leclerc comes in at +150 odds. Verstappen has won seven of 12 races this season, most recently capturing the French Grand Prix on July 24, thanks in part to a Leclerc crash. Leclerc has won three of the other five races, making him the clear second-favorite in Budapest.
Carlos Sainz (+800) and Sergio Perez (+1600) each have one win and six podiums, so it’s not surprising that they are both in Sunday’s top-five favorites as well. Lewis Hamilton (+1000) is one of the most decorated athletes in F1 history and came one lap shy of winning the championship in 2021 before falling to Verstappen. Despite failing to win a race thus far in 2022, Hamilton can’t be counted out. George Russell (+2200) is currently fifth in the standings, one spot ahead of Hamilton.
Verstappen, Leclerc, Sainz, Hamilton, Perez and Russell are the six drivers with a realistic chance of winning Sunday’s Hungarian Grand Prix, as the other 14 drivers all have odds of +17500 or longer. While race winner is the most popular bet on the F1 Hungarian Grand Prix, there are other options to wager on, including podium (top-three) finish, top-six finish, and Lap 1 leader.
